The Change to Headphones Hear ‘Round the World
Get ready to say goodbye to your drawer of old iPhone headphones – that drawer we all rely on when we head out for a jog but can’t find the damn headphones. Well, that drawer is about to become much less useful, as Apple is phasing out the user of 3.5mm headphone jacks.
It started with iPhone 7, when Apple removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from the device. Interestingly, the MacBooks that have come out since the iPhone 7 have included the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. This has left many users asking… will the iPhone 8 have a headphone jack?
The short answer is: no.
The iPhone 8 is expected to follow the trend started with the iPhone 7. Users will have to use a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter, or adopt Apple’s new wireless earbud dubbed “AirPods”.
