On September 12, 2018, Apple unveiled the iPhone XR – the newest addition to the iPhone family.

Compared to the iPhone 8 Plus (5.5 inch screen), the iPhone XR has a bigger display (measuring 6.1 inches), but a smaller overall body that is available in six exciting colors: Blue, Coral, Yellow, Product Red, Black, and White.

Notable features of the iPhone XR:
- Qi wireless charging
- Water resistant (IP67)
- LTE Advanced cell network
- Dual SIM support (via nano-SIM and digital eSIM)
There are many similarities between the iPhone XR and iPhone X (announced last year). The iPhone XR will have the same home screen, swipe up to unlock, and no home button. The iPhone XR does NOT have 3D Touch, but does include “haptic touch” which is similar to Force Touch found on new MacBook Pro trackpads.
Liquid Retina Display
According to Apple themselves: “The new display on iPhone XR is the most advanced LCD in the industry. An innovative backlight design allows the screen to stretch into the corners. So you see true-to-life color from one beautiful edge to the other.”
The Liquid Retina Display features a resolution of 1792×828, with 326 pixels per inch. The display will be available on the iPhone XR, with a 6.1-inch screen, similar to the iPhone X. The display features Apple’s True Tone technology, and adds “tap to wake” feature to the iPhone family.

The iPhone XR is powered by Apple’s A12 Bionic chip with next-generation Neural Engine, and includes the TrueDepth camera system first introduced in the iPhone X, along with faster Face ID, and a more advanced camera system capable of portrait photos via a single camera lens.
iPhone XR features a 12-megapixel f/1.8 aperture wide-angle lens with an all-new sensor, delivering faster auto-focus, while larger and deeper pixels improve image fidelity and low-light performance on photos and videos.
