What is a Smart Home Hub?

At the center of every smart home is a “hub”. A hub is a physical device that communicates with each individual smart-home device in your network. One of the most popular, and my personal favorite smart home hub is Samsung SmartThings hub.
With SmartThings, you can use sensors and buttons (View Z-Wave Devices on Amazon) to trigger actions and automation throughout your smart home. If you’re starting from scratch, you’re going to need a SmartThings Hub (Available on Amazon), and you’ll want to get at least 1 or 2 sensors or switches to get started. Get Started with SmartThings

The newly released 3rd generation Samsung SmartThings hub is available on Amazon for less than $100. For those just getting started, you may want to look into a starter pack that includes a few sensors and switches. My favorite SmartThings Starter Bundle is the “Home Monitoring Kit” from the makers of SmartThings – Samsung.
